Sponges are basic multi-cellular organisms that are normally sessile. They first form during the [[:worldgen:life:Aerobic]] period, and may be the most complex lifeforms for a while.

They can be dominant on [[:worldgen:pcl:EoGaian]], [[:worldgen:pcl:CryoGaian]], [[:worldgen:pcl:MesoGaian]] or later worlds.
