 +====== Dwarves ======

 +Dwarves are a race of short stocky humanoids that historically live in subterranean cities far below the sunlit world. The full extent of dwarven civilisation isn't known, since only those near or on the surface are ever encountered.
 +
 +The largest surface dwarven nation is found in the [[White Mountains]], where their stone structures pierce the ground and tower into the sky.
 +
 +There are actually two dwarven nations here, known colloquially as [[Hill Dwarves]] and [[Mountain Dwarves]]. The Hill Dwarves are the descendants of those who came to the surface before the [[Devastation]]. In the years following the Devastation, the dwarves sealed off their mountain homes, leaving those that lived on the surface stranded. Over the next century, they rebuilt their own nation, taking for themselves the lands of south eastern [[Galcia]].
 +
 +When the dwarves re-opened the gateways to their homes, relationships between those who had remained behind and those that had fled beneath were strained to say the least. Today, that relationship has been healed somewhat by time, but there is still a marked different between the two cultures. The Hill Dwarves have taken new gods, including some human ones, and speak a different dialect to their cousins. The capital of their nation is [[Makchozg]]. There are about a quarter of a million hill dwarves.
 +
 +The Mountain Dwarves are those that dwell in the city and surrounding lands of [[Daozg]] in the [[White Mountains]].  There are multiple above ground settlements now, but their culture is firmly routed in their homeland far beneath the ground. The city itself is said to be home to over a million dwarves, but nobody has ever counted.
