ESU Fleet

The ESU prefers long ranged weapon systems over other forms of combat. Fleet doctrine is to provide large amounts of support for their capital ships, in the form of cruiser class vessels equipped with shorter range weapons, leaving capital ships to focus on, often spinal mounted, long range beam and torpedo weapons.

Fighters

Slava Heavy Fighter

Class: Heavy
Speed: 24“
Endurance: 6
Points: 24

Escorts

Cossack Strike Boat

Cossack Strike Boat Cossack Strike Boat

Class: Strike Boat (SB)
Mass: 14
Points: 49
The Cossack class is a fast, fragile ship designed to get in fast, deliver it's payload and get out again as quickly as it can. Equipped with 5 submunition packs, it is a single shot mobile launch platform designed to take on small to medium sized vessels. Due to its fragility, it normally keeps out of combat until the enemy is already engaged, forcing them to decide between destroying the short term threat of the strike boat or taking on longer term threats of larger vessels.

Poryshkin Corvette

Poryshkin Corvette Poryshkin Corvette

Class: Corvette (CT)
Mass: 18
Points: 60
Equipped with two class 2 beam weapons, the Poryshkin has considerable weapon range for its ship class. It is designed to combat other small vessels from behind the 'line of battle'. It is susceptible to fighter attack however, and general orders are to seek cover under the protective aegis of escort cruisers if fighters are coming their way.

Kunitsa Frigate

Kunitsa Frigate Kunitsa Frigate

Class: Frigate (FF)
Mass: 24
Points: 80
Designed as a close range support vessel, the Kunitsa sacrifices medium range effectiveness for short range versatility and limited anti-fighter capability. It is often used as an escort for support ships.

Ural Destroyer

Ural Destroyer Ural Destroyer

Class: Destroyer (DD)
Mass: 34
Points: 112
The Ural class of destroyer is designed to support capital class vessels, providing all-round firepower for use against enemy vessels that get within close range.

Kunlun Heavy Destroyer

Kunlun Heavy Destroyer Kunlun Heavy Destroyer

Class: Heavy Destroyer (DDH)
Mass: 148
Points: 162
The Kunlun class of heavy destroyer is a multi-role vessel designed for both anti-ship action and also planetary assault. It carries a single ortillery system for use in planetary bombardment, as well as two turreted class 2 beam weapons. Its all-round fire capability allows it to engage enemy vessels whilst manoeuvring for orbital insertion.

Cruisers

Kiang Light Cruiser

Kiang Light Cruiser Kiang Light Cruiser

Class: Light Cruiser (CL)
Mass: 54
Points: 175
The Kiang class of light cruisers is designed for close combat effectiveness, its primary weapons being class 1 beams. It is also equipped with submunition packs and anti-fighter point defence systems. The Kiang is designed to make up for the ESU's lack of close range weapon systems in its larger ships, and provides a flexible shield for dreadnaughts and battleships.

Oriskansky Escort Cruiser

Oriskansky Escort Cruiser Oriskansky Escort Cruiser

Class: Escort Cruiser (CE)
Mass: 68
Points: 228
Like all escort cruisers of the major nations, the ESU's Oriskansky is heavily equipped with area defence systems in order to protect the fleet from fighter and missile attacks. It is heavily armoured, and has some limited anti-ship capability, but its primary weaponry are twelve point defence systems.

Xinglong Heavy Cruiser

Xinglong Heavy Cruiser Xinglong Heavy Cruiser

Class: Heavy Cruiser (CH)
Mass: 90
Points: 310
The Xinglong class of heavy cruisers carries a formidable array of half a dozen class 3 beam weapons as its primary armament. This allows it to out range most other ships of its class. This heavy armament comes at a cost however, and the Xinglong is quite slow. It is tough and well armoured though.

Capital Ships

Pobyeda Battlecruiser

Pobyeda Battlecruiser Pobyeda Battlecruiser

Class: Battlecruiser (BC)
Mass: 108
Points: 367
Built for speed and a wide coverage of beam fire, the Pobyeda class of Battlecruisers has less firepower than the Xinglong heavy cruiser, but is faster and can target enemies over a much greater volume of space. It is designed to be able to manoeuvre out of range or arc of enemy ships, whilst still having a good chance of being able to target those same enemies itself.

Khalinov Battleship

Khalinov Battleship Khalinov Battleship

Class: Battleship (BB)
Mass: 140
Points: 489
Slow, but protected by screens, the Khalinov's primary weapon is a spinal mount system consisting of six class four beam batteries. It has little in the way of secondary armament, and is the polar opposite in design of the Pobyeda Battlecruiser. It is best at long range, where it can keep enemies within arc, and at a distance where it can lay down considerable firepower but be out of range of most enemy weapon systems itself.

Morov Battledreadnaught

Morov Battledreadnaught Morov Battledreadnaught

Class: Battledreadnaught (BDN)
Mass: 180
Points: 624
The Morov class of battledreadnaughts is a general purpose ship of the line, with the capability to engage targets from short to extreme range. It is well armoured, and also shielded, making it tough in a fight.

Changchun Light Carrier

Changchun Light Carrier Changchun Light Carrier

Class: Light Carrier (CVL)
Mass: 182
Points: 637
The light carrier is a mixed role carrier and support ship, capable of providing local area defence to nearby ships as well as acting as the mothership to four wings of fighters. As with most ESU carriers, the favoured fighter type is the Slava class of heavy fighter.

Zhukov Superdreadnaught

Zhukov Superdreadnaught Zhukov Superdreadnaught

Class: Zhukov Superdreadnaught (SDN)
Mass: 242
Points: 836
The Zhukov class of Superdreadnaught is the ESU's take on inflicting the most damage at the greatest range. Equipped with four spinal mount class four beam batteries, half a dozen class three turrets, as well as three long range salvo missiles, it can inflict heavy damage at long range. Close range weapon systems are limited, but the fleet normally relies on smaller vessels for this role. It is also equipped with an orbital bombardment system, making it capable of taking on planetary targets without needing to call on specialist support.
