Melee Only Units

Stargrunt assumes that the majority of units are equipped with long range firearms, and that the only ones that aren't are effectively non-combat units. This causes some issues for units (such as Xenomorphs, wild animals, undead) that are effective in close combat, but which don't have any ranged combat abilities.

The main issue is that they are easy to avoid.

Pounce

A unit has the option to fire upon units which move twice within line of sight. A unit with the Pounce ability gets a similar option for close assault. Only certain units can do this, and it should generally be limited to units that don't have long range weapons.

If an enemy unit starts a second move within line of sight of an unactivated unit with Pounce, then this unit can attempt a close assault attack. They immediately roll a combat move, and if that allows them to reach the enemy unit, then a close assault is initiated.

If they fail to reach the enemy unit, then a second move attempt is not possible. The pounce is considered to have failed and the unit's activation marker is flipped.
