Kuiper type cometary bodies are found in stable orbits in the icy kuiper belts around star systems. They are cold, icy bodies, often reddish in colour due to tholins formed on their surfaces from the ultraviolet radiation from the star. Those around dimmer reddish stars are less likely to be so coloured.

At this distance, any star is likely to be faint, though a typical Sol-like star would still be considerably brighter than the Moon is from Earth.
