These are rogue gas giants, floating in the empty space between stars. They still have plenty of left over heat from their core, but are cooling and shrinking over time. They tend to be a mix of hydrogen and helium, with some methane or ammonia. They are often dark blue in colour.

They may have a large system of moons, or they can have none. They rarely have rings.
