A couple of photographs of the setup before battle. The battery on the camera died shortly after. It was a 3500 point battle between an Ulric army and some Dark Elves, a rematch after a previous battle which was reasonably evenly matched. Ulric lost, but they gave the Elves a good pounding once they captured them.

This time around, things were different. As before, the Elves inflicted massive damage against the humans with their bolt throwers and magic. This time however, the introduction of elven warriors as heroes (instead of sorcerers) totally reversed the outcome of the close combat, and the forces of Ulric were shattered.

Basically, the Dark Elves were faster than their human foes, had much better long range weapons, had flyers who were pretty free to do as they pleased, had far superior magic, and walked all over the puny humans in close combat.

It wasn't a battle, but a massacre. Ulric failed to inflict a single casualty on the drow.
