Cordan is a garden world, with a population of a few thousand 'barons' who live lives of luxury, plus several million people who are considered non-citizens and do all the work to support their rulers.

Cordan is a pastoral paradise, at least for those at the top who dwell in their high tech villas looking over kilometres of tamed wilderness (because untamed wilderness might be dangerous, and not as pictorial). These is the official population of the world, the other, maybe 7 million (give or take) don't count.

The world has a low level of industry, but despite its ecological quality it's not agricultural either. Enough land is farmed to keep everyone fed, with a bit left over for selling off-world. There is a high level of dumb robotics used in the farming and industry.
